TECHNICAL SEMINARS - FREE OF CHARGE

As part of our commitment to ongoing learning and the sharing of knowledge about our industry, Corbec Ontario is pleased to offer free access to our series of technical seminars.


Whether you’re a client, industry supplier, engineering student, instructor or simply someone who wants to learn more about the process of hot-dip galvanizing, you are invited to attend.


Participants in our seminars are eligible to receive HSW (Health, Safety, and Welfare) credits and all our courses are approved for AIA Learning Units (LU) and Professional Development Hours (PDH) for engineers.


Upon completion, Corbec Ontario will issue the participant a Certificate of Completion from the American Galvanizers Association .


TECHNICAL SEMINARS - INFORMATION

Seminar topics

Core Galvanize it: The seminar introduces you to the basics of hot-dip galvanized steel. The course covers all steps in the hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) process of coating fabricated steel with molten zinc and explains the key benefits of galvanized steel including longevity, cost, and sustainability.


Designing for Hot-Dip Galvanizing: The seminar will assist you in the design and integration of corrosion protection in your next project. The course examines the hot-dip galvanizing process, ASTM specifications, design best practice, inspection, and preparing the galvanized surface for painting/powder coating.


Sustainable Development & Hot-Dip Galvanizing: The seminar provides an in-depth analysis of the sustainable aspects of hot-dip galvanizing. Seminar content includes zinc and the environment, LEED, life-cycle assessment (LCA), life-cycle cost (LCC), environmental and economic case study comparisons.


Duplex System: Coating Galvanized Steel: The seminar provides an overview about hot-dip galvanized steel and the synergistic benefits of coating. The course includes an overview of hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) and duplex systems as well as the benefits of duplex systems, specifying duplex systems, and preparing the HDG surface.


Bridge Design: Targeted at architects and engineers, this course covers the essentials in steel specification, best design practices, HDG inspection and repair in steel bridges.


Reinforcing Steel: The purpose of this seminar is to educate architects, engineers, DOT personnel, and other specifiers about the benefits of utilizing hot-dip galvanized (HDG) reinforcing steel in concrete projects.

Seminars are 1 hour 30 minutes duration.
